How can I prepare for my appointment?
Patients can prepare for their appointments by making sure they bring in their insurance cards and photo ID, as well as have questions ready to ask the dentist.
Goodland Dentistry staff may also need to know the patient’s date of birth, employer name and phone number, and the insurance company’s phone number.
How can I prepare my child for a dentist appointment?
If this is your child’s first dentist visit, we recommend that you begin talking to them about the appointment as soon as possible. It’s never too early to talk to them about their visit.
Many children love to play dentist, and this is a great time to introduce a “practice visit” to them. Go through the steps of having them sit in the chair, lean back, open their mouth and hold it open, and practice sitting still for the dentist. Tell them what’s happening at each step, and what they might see, feel, and hear.
If your child is scared or uncomfortable, be sure to comfort them by reassuring them that you’ll be there with them during their appointment. You can also bring a comforting item from home, like a toy, stuffed animal, blanket, or something special to the child.
Your local library, YouTube, and other websites also have educational resources like books and videos on visiting the dentist and are great tools for helping prepare children for their appointment.
Lastly, you can be a great role model for them by demonstrating good eating and oral health habits. Parents can even take their children to their own dentist appointments and show them what happens. Remember, your own attitude and fears of the dentist can have a great influence on your children, so be aware that everything you do—from talking about the dentist to taking care of your own teeth—will be absorbed by your child.
What can my child expect during their first visit to Goodland Dentistry?
First, Goodland Dentistry’s family-friendly office will help your child feel as comfortable as possible. And our "Tell, Show, Do" approach will help them know what is happening during their visit. Before we perform an exam or a procedure, the dentist will tell you and show you what they will be doing. If your child is feeling nervous about seeing the dentist, we can help you calm them. We may also use local anesthesia to prevent any tooth or gum pain. After the exam, we will go over the work that was done with you and share any after-care instructions, prescribe any medications, and answer any questions you might have.
When you and your child visit Goodland Dentistry, you can expect to receive quality, convenient, and stress-free oral healthcare.
How much does it cost for a dental visit to get my child's teeth cleaned? What about the cost for adults?
The cost of your appointment will depend on the procedures the dentist needs to perform and what your insurance plan covers.
Some insurance plans cover routine cleanings and exams, and you may not have to pay anything out of pocket. Other insurance plans require a co-pay for cleanings, exams, and x-rays. If you’d like to find out what your insurance covers, please give us a call and we’ll help you find out.
Can parents attend the appointment with their children?
Yes, parents are welcome to attend their child’s visit. For some children, having a parent or guardian with them helps them feel more comfortable during their visit. For others, an adult may be distracting. We can help you figure out what will work best for your child so they have a great appointment. We always want you to feel that Goodland Dentistry is a caring, safe, and stress-free place for you and your family.
